David Milaybuma (c1938-1983)

David Milaybuma is an artist of the Dangkorlo clan, mentored by senior artist Mick Mandanjku and later working with Bill Birriyabirriya at Marrkolidjban. David Milaybuma and Mick Kubarkku were the first regular painters at Maningrida. His work in X-ray style is notable for the tight, ordered use of parallel bands of crosshatching, relieved by dotted infill. In his later work, Milaybuma added elaborated diamond designs with hard edges
